Staffordshire Development XI went down by five wickets in their 50-over clash against Cheshire seconds.
Staffs took first use in the encounter at Macclesfield, but soon found themselves in early bother.
They were reduced to 23-3 before Rohan Vallabhaneni and Niall McHale dug in to stop the rot.
Vallabhaneni was at the forefront of the Staffordshire recovery mission as he compiled a half-century.
The Newcastle & Hartshill batsman hit 74, which featured 10 fours and two sixes, receiving valuable support from Milford Hall’s Niall McHale, who chipped in with 38.
First-teamer Sam Atkinson added 25, while Ed Batchelor weighed in with 20 not out.
However, Staffordshire were eventually bowled out for 191 – a total which seemed well below par.
Isaac Brooks picked up 3-36 for Cheshire, with double strikes coming from Daniel Wilson, Brad Parker and Miles Bradshaw.
‘Key stand’
In reply, Cheshire’s successful run chase was centred around a second-wicket partnership of 107 between Henry Murray and Jack Massey.
Murray top-scored with 69, an innings which featured 12 fours and one six, with Massey also impressing with 40.
McHale completed a fine individual day with 4-25 to limit the margin of defeat.
But it was too little, too late for Staffordshire to affect the outcome as Andrew Dufty made an unbeaten 20 to see Cheshire over the line in the 34th over of the innings.
