Staffordshire’s pre-season friendlies against the North Staffs and South Cheshire League XI have been called off.
Staffs were due to kick off their on-field preparations for the new season on Sunday, April 14.
They were setto play two Twenty20 matches against the league side at Caverswall. However, the bad weather means the ground will not be fit for play.
There is added disappointment at the cancellation. The day was due to be played in memory of Caverswall secretary Rob Bown, who passed away in December.
All money raised from the occasion was due to be donated to a charity of Caverswall’s choice.
Staffordshire will now be hoping the weather improves for their second pre-season assignment.
Staffs are scheduled to head to Whitchurch to play Shropshire on Sunday, April 21 in two T20s.
The National Counties Cricket Association starts on Sunday, April 28. Staffordshire face Cheshire in a double header at Knypersley.
