Staffordshire 2nd XI secured a 92-run victory over their Cumbria counterparts at Carlisle.
After the weather had wiped out the counties’ first teams NCCA T20 Cup double header at the same venue on Sunday, the conditions improved to allow Monday’s 50-over per side friendly to take place.
It was Staffordshire who took first use and they managed to amass 210-9 from their allocation.
Jack Hammond top-scored with 67, hitting a couple of fours, with George Margetts (37) and Ed Batchelor (14) also impressing.
However, from 165-9, it needed a fine last-wicket stand between Ed Smith (22no) and Reid Taylor (13no) to see Staffs beyond the 200-mark.

Ethan Hardie-Knight and Reegan Scott claimed a couple of wickets apiece for the home side.
In reply, Aston Burwell-Garratt and Kian Larmour contributed 39 and 22 respectively for Cumbria.
However, seamer Batchelor stole the show with a fine haul of 5-17 to instigate Cumbria’s downfall to 118 all out.
There were also double strikes from James Green and Reid Taylor.
‘Maiden meeting’
The victory continued the second’ good form after they recently defeated the RAF at Wolverhampton.
It was the first time Staffs had played the Royal Air Force and a hugely-competitive game ensued.
Half-centuries from Spencer Grove and Ramanjot Jaswal powered Staffordshire to 233-4 from their 45 overs.

Grove’s 84 included nine fours, with Jaswal hitting six boundaries and one six in his 62.
Amir Khan (38), Joe Wright (20no) and George Margetts (18) also made handy impacts.
RAF spinner Tom Shorthouse grabbed 4-35.
On the resumption, Ross Diver (48), Harry Hollingsworth (36) and Avish Patel (22) starred.
However, Gurshan Singh’s 4-31, plus a couple of wickets for Tom Smith, left the RAF 215-9 at the close.
It is hoped that this now became a regular fixture on Staffordshire’s and the RAF’s calendar.
