Dan Richardson insists he’s going to savour every moment of his second coming in a Staffordshire shirt.
The Moddershall & Oulton all-rounder saw his exodus from the county side ended last weekend when he made his first appearance for three years in the NCCA Knockout Trophy defeat at Buckinghamshire.
Richardson bowled impressively and has kept his place in the side for Staffs’ opening three-day encounter against Bedfordshire at Dunstable, which starts on Sunday (11am).
It will be the 27-year-old’s first Championship appearance – and his 19th in total – since featuring in the 2019 final defeat by Berkshire.
And after spending that time on the sidelines, Richardson is determined not to squander this opportunity to represent the county.
“It was nice to get the call to play last Sunday,” he said. “You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s taken away from you and that’s given me extra motivation and drive to get back in.”
