NCCA Championship: Duo return to Staffordshire duty for key Suffolk encounter

Zen Malik returns to the Staffordshire side.

Staffordshire have made two change to their side for this weekend’s NCCA Division One East game against Suffolk at Checkley.

Batsman Matthew Morris is unavailable, so he is replaced by Zen Malik, while seamer Dan Gibbs is preferred to fellow paceman Alex Coates.

Gibbs shone on his debut at Bedfordshire, picking up a second-innings five-wicket haul, but he has been unavailable for the subsequent two fixtures.

“Gibbo got seven wickets at Bedfordshire, so he has to come back in now he’s available,” explained director of cricket Dave Cartledge, ahead of the contest which starts on Sunday (11am).

“It’s also great to have Zen back. Matty is playing in a cup final for Westhoughton, and he’s done really well for us.

“But Zen is a natural replacement and he’s as good as anything on the NCCA circuit. He also gives us another bowling option.”
