Peter Wilshaw says his Staffordshire players haven’t reached the peak of their powers in the NCCA Championship.
Staffs won their opening fixture at Bedfordshire in Division One East and followed that up with a draw at Lincolnshire.
Those results mean Staffs top the table at the halfway point of their three-day season as they prepare to entertain Norfolk at Leek, starting on Sunday (11am).
However, despite being delighted with the position Staffordshire find themselves in, Wilshaw believes his players can still move through the gears.
“We’re definitely in a strong position. To get a win and a maximum-points draw from the two away games was really pleasing,” said Wilshaw.
“We played some really good cricket in both games. I was especially pleased with how the lads adapted to three-day cricket and also being away from home.
“It has left us in a really good position and we are always confident that, at home, we can get wins on the board.
“We’ve had some fantastic individual performances so far, but there’s more to come from the lads.
“Every game is an opportunity for them to put in a performance to nail down a place, not just for the rest of this season, but for ones to come.
“We also have experienced players in there and they have to keep stepping up for us.”
