Peter Wilshaw insists Staffordshire must take tiny steps as they look to make it back-to-back away wins in NCCA Division One East this weekend.
Staffordshire started their National Counties Cricket Association Championship campaign with a two-wicket victory over Bedfordshire at Dunstable on Tuesday.
There is a quick turnaround for Staffs’ players as they head out on the road for the second time in a week when they make the journey to the coast to take on Lincolnshire, starting on Sunday.
Staffs sit top of the table on 22 points, but venture to Cleethorpes to tackle a Lincs side who caused a stir in the first round of matches by defeating divisional champions Suffolk at Bury St Edmunds.
“It would put us in a great position if we could make it two wins out of two,” said Wilshaw. “We spoke to the lads after the Beds game and said it’s important that we take things session by session in matches. The first hour at Lincs is important.
“They will be on a high after winning at Suffolk following an up-and-down season last year. They’ve made a great start and their result at Suffolk was no mean feat.”
