Staffs commence their National Counties Cricket Association Knockout Trophy campaign on Sunday when they play host to Wales at Himley (11am).
Staffordshire have had a decent run in this part of the white-ball programme in recent times with trips to both the final and semi-finals in previous seasons.
And after an encouraging Twenty20 Cup schedule, which saw Staffordshire just miss out on qualifying from their group, player-coach Mellor can’t wait to get his teeth stuck into the latest block of action.
