Andy Carr insists there is plenty of room for improvement from Staffordshire as they look to make it back-to-back wins in the NCCA Knockout Trophy this weekend.
Staffs opened up their National Counties Cricket Association 50-over campaign last week with a win against Wales at Himley in a rain-reduced encounter.
Wales were restricted to 179 all out in the 35 overs per side clash before Staffordshire pocketed a three-wicket triumph in the penultimate over.
Riki Wessels and Alex Mellor had given Staffs a good start to their chase, which was carried on by Zen Malik (48) and Michael Hill (45).
There was a middle-order wobble as Staffordshire’s youngsters felt a bit of pressure, but they managed to find a way to win.
Carr, a new addition to the senior squad’s coaching staff, had plenty of praise for the team, but says there are areas to brush up on when they head to Warminster to tackle Wiltshire in their second Group Four game on Sunday.
