NCCA Twenty20 Cup finals day abandoned for the second time

The rain saw NCCA Twenty20 Cup finals day at Chester Boughton Hall abandoned because of the rain.

The rain was the winner once again as Staffordshire were left frustrated on NCCA Twenty20 Cup finals day.

Staffs, Berkshire, Cumbria and Oxfordshire met at Chester Boughton Hall for a re-run following May’s abandonment due to the weather.

However, the elements intervened once more on a miserable day in Cheshire.

Staffordshire ‘won’ their semi-final against Berkshire thanks to a coin toss – the same method which had seen Cumbria beat Oxfordshire.

However, with no prospect of the final between Staffordshire and Cumbria taking place, the day was abandoned.

The trophy will not be awarded for the 2024 season.

Day Four report: Staffordshire earn share of NCCA Championship title

Staffordshire had been hoping to become the first side to successfully defend the T20 Cup title after last year’s victory over Cornwall at Tring Park.

But the rain put paid to those aspirations as Staffs’ season wound up in a damp fashion.

It has been a successful season for the county, though, after winning the Division One East title and then shared the overall Championship crown with Berkshire at West Bromwich Dartmouth earlier this week.
