Former Staffordshire captain Nick Archer has been elected as the county’s new chairman.
Archer replaces Phil Oliver, who has seen his allotted six-year term come to an end.
His appointment was confirmed at Staffordshire’s annual meeting, which was held at the Staffordshire Cricket offices in Stafford.
Archer captained the county between 1985 and 1995 and orchestrated the most successful period in the county’s history.
Staffordshire won three successive Championship titles between 1991 and 1993 and also picked up two Knockout Trophy triumphs in 91 and 93.
Staffordshire celebrate excellent 2024 season
Archer, who is also the Staffordshire president, made his county debut in 1973. He was awarded his county cap in 1981.
His final appearance came in a three-wicket win against Cambridgeshire at Fenners in 1996.
He is ninth on the list of Staffordshire’s all-time leading Championship run scorers after accumulating 4,579 in his career.
He has since served as the county’s secretary, but stepped down from the role in 2018 after being named as the chairman of Minor Counties Cricket Association, now known as the National Counties Cricket Association.
Meanwhile, outgoing chairman Oliver has been elected as a vice-president of the county.
Former Staffs player Peter Harvey, who also had a spell as chair, was also made a vice-president at the annual meeting.
