Staffordshire name squads for Bank Holiday matches in NCCA Twenty20 Cup

All-rounder Liam Banks will make his first appearance of the season for Staffordshire on Monday.

Staffordshire have named 13-man squads for their Bank Holiday double header in the National Counties Cricket Association Twenty20 Cup.

Staffs entertain Shropshire at Leek on Sunday. They then head to Nantwich on Monday to take on Cheshire to wrap up their short-form campaign.

James Kettleborough’s men saw their first fixture in the competition against Cumbria called off because of the weather.

They then won one and lost one of their games against Northumberland at South Northumberland last weekend.

They were beaten in the opening clash, but rallied superbly. Nils Priestley’s sparkling 97 helped them to win in the afternoon.

That has left them top of the Group One table. And they will be targeting four wins to put themselves in a commanding position to qualify for finals day.

‘Staffs changes’

Left-arm spinner Tom Brett returns to the squads after missing the trip to Northumberland. Jack Redman drops out of the squads.

Wicketkeeper Callum Hawkins will take over glove duties on both days with Spencer Byatt unavailable.

There will also be a first appearance of the season for Hem Heath all-rounder Liam Banks.

He has been included in the travelling part for Monday’s encounters.

Matches on both days start at 11am and 2.30pm.
