Staffordshire have named a 12-man squad for this weekend’s NCCA Twenty20 Cup double header against Shropshire.
Staffs head to Burslem looking to further enhance their qualification push from Group One of the competition.
The short format has been a profitable one for Staffordshire in recent season.
They won the T20 Cup for the first time in 2023 and also reached finals day last summer, but rain prevented the showpiece from being played on three separate occasions.
Staffordshire opened up this year’s competition with a win and a defeat in the opening round against Northumberland at Allendale.
Head coach Andy Carr makes three changes to the squad for Sunday’s matches at Burslem, which start at 11am and 2.30pm.
All-rounders Liam Banks and Reeve Evitts, plus left-arm spinner Tom Brett all return having missed the trip to the north east.
‘Set the record straight’
Staffordshire have already met Shropshire this season having been in their Knockout Trophy group.
Shropshire won that 50-over contest at Shifnal and have since gone on to progress to the semi-finals where they face Suffolk.
However, they started their T20 campaign in disappointing fashion after losing both of their matches to Cheshire last time out.
Cumbria and Northumberland meet in the other Group One fixtures this weekend.
Staffordshire hope across the border to play Cheshire at Nantwich on Sunday, June 15 following this weekend’s assignment.
Admission to Sunday’s games at Burslem is free and all spectators are welcome to attend.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
