Zen Malik is looking to buck the trend after being named as Staffordshire’s Twenty20 Cup captain.
Staffs have endured a torrid time in the short format since it was introduced into the National Counties Cricket Association programme back in 2015.
Defeats have been commonplace however Staffs have approached T20 matches – but Malik is targeting an upturn in fortunes as he prepares to lead the county in Sunday’s Group One double header against Northumberland at Porthill Park.
Primarily, though, he is honoured to have been asked to be the man to mastermind a T20 revival.
The former Worcestershire batsman has been training with Hampshire over the winter in a bid to return to the first-class scene, but insists he is focused on bringing success to Staffs.
