Debuts in the pipeline for Staffordshire’s NCCA Championship opener

Staffordshire County Cricket Club general training

Staffordshire have selected a 12-man squad for the opening NCCA Championship game of the season.

Staffs welcome newly-promoted Bedfordshire to Checkley for the first three-dayer, starting tomorrow (11am).

And there could be a couple of Championship debutants in the line-up after head coach Andy Carr named his party.

Kenilworth Wardens all-rounder Reeve Evitts and Moddershall & Oulton paceman Jacob Garlick are in the 12.

Evitts has featured for Staffordshire in white-ball cricket this summer. But this is Garlick’s first call-up to the senior squad.

Garlick, part of the Warwickshire set-up, has impressed in the NSSCL this season. He recently took 6-53 against Checkley in their Premier A meeting.

Tom Moulton is included after scoring a century in the Development side’s tie with Worcestershire Academy in the week.

Michael Hill and Nils Priestley are missing from the Staffordshire squad due to work commitments.
